"The Crucible participants I met are ambitious, high-achieving future leaders"
Dr Maria Sharmina, Senior Lecturer in Energy and Sustainability, University of Manchester
"The multi-disciplinary aspect of the Crucible is a real strength. I am very interested in combining a variety of disciplines in the digital economy space, so it was great to meet researchers in different areas. The Crucible participants I met are ambitious, high-achieving future leaders – it’s been incredibly inspiring, and the opportunities for collaboration are considerable.
The experience I had at the Crucible exchanging ideas, collaborating, networking, has really helped with honing the skills needed for a successful promotion, which I’ve been offered since.
Since the Crucible, I have started working on several new research projects funded by the UK Research Councils, including the Energy Revolution Consortium and the Sustainable Aquaculture project."
