Small city. Big personality.

With only around 300,000 residents, Swansea isn't the biggest city this side of the Severn, but she's got a big personality! From its humble beginnings in the copper industry, this little port city has flourished into a vibrant multicultural centre boasting metropolitan amenities amidst stunning natural landscapes. Whether you like to explore the outdoors, take in a bit of culture, or anything in between, Swansea has a little something for everyone.

Swansea's music scene

Swansea has an energetic music scene which continues to grow. The city boasts a variety of music venues and plays host to music festivals and events throughout the year, including the Students' Union Summer Ball (definitely not one to miss!). Swansea's newest addition is a 3,500-capacity arena in the heart of the city which offers entertainment ranging from music to comedy, to west-end shows.

Swansea is great for local life! It’s right by the beach and I couldn’t ask for more. There’s also lovely parks to walk through that connect to campus. Nightlife is great, plenty of decent clubs to go to and relatively cheap depending where you go. Buses are very good and run regularly, they go to all main areas a student may need to get to

Arts & Culture

Swansea is a vibrant centre for art and culture. Wander around the Glynn Vivian in town or visit the Taliesin Arts Centre on Singleton Campus. Literature lovers should pay a visit to local boy Dylan Thomas' home too.

No cultural tour is complete without tasting a bit of local life! Follow Wayne and Robyn on their gastronomical journey through Swansea's finest eats on Foodie Fridays.
