The Turing Scheme is provided by the UK government to support students undertaking a year abroad, semester abroad, or summer programme. We are hopeful that Turing funding will be available for 2024/25  however we are currently waiting for the UK government to announce if this funding will be in place.

Funding amounts for students through the Turing programme are set externally by the programme and funding is only available from the 1st of September to the 31st August. The amounts are calculated based on the host country, duration of placement, and whether the student qualifies for Widening Participation (WP) status. As a guideline, please refer to the 2023/24 grant rates in the drop-down below:

Widening Participation (WP) eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • annual household income of £25,000 or less
  • students receiving Universal Credit or income-related benefits
  • care leavers and care-experienced students
  • estranged students.
  • refugees and asylum seekers.

Students will apply to the Go Global team for Turing funding and in order to be eligible students will be required to complete the relevant paperwork.

Paid work placements and British Council Language assistantships are not normally supported with Turing funding (due to budget).
