Université d’Angers is located in the Anjou region of France, north west of the Loire Valley. Being just 45 minutes from Nantes and 1 hour 30 minutes from Paris by train, Angers is easily accessible and ideally located for exploring other regions of France. Mostly a student city, Angers offers a mixture of typical French night-life, historically rich street-scapes and great shopping opportunities. There are a wide range of accommodation options available to exchange students, from residence halls on campus to private flats. Availability for rooms on campus are limited, so students are encouraged to apply as early as possible but there is also plenty of housing available in the city.

Important information
ACADEMIC YEAR: Runs September to May.
COSTS: The cost of living in Angers will vary depending on your chosen accommodation and your lifestyle. Angers refers students to the Preparing your Budget webpage for the average cost of necessities such as food, transport and healthcare.
VISA: You may need to apply for a long-stay visa (more than 90 days) to study in Angers and you will be required to provide proof of sufficient funds as part of the application. The fee for the visa application is 99 EUR. Angers will provide further information on the visa application process and you can also visit the French Government webpage. You must apply for the visa early to allow plenty of time for your application to be processed ahead of your arrival in France. There can be significant delays so please do not leave this until the last minute as you cannot travel to France without it.
ACCOMMODATION: Most on-campus accommodation is not available but students can apply for a room on the Belle Beille campus through Angers partnership with the Crous. Rooms are limited and an application for a room does not guarantee the accommodation. Angers have provided guidance to finding your own accommodation on their webpage and advise that students secure accommodation early as the demand is high for September. As Angers is a multi-campus university, it is advised that you choose accommodation near your allocated campus.
HEALTH INSURANCE: You will need to purchase mandatory health insurance for your time in Angers before you arrive in France. More information can be found here.
