At Swansea University, we have a variety of undergraduate scholarship and bursary opportunities available to international students. These are open to new international, self‑funding students enrolling onto one of our undergraduate courses only, including EU students who are eligible for international fee status.

International Undergraduate Bursaries

The following bursaries are currently available to new international, self‑funding students enrolling on an undergraduate course at Swansea University. Eligibility is based on your country of domicile, with full details of eligible countries and all bursary conditions outlined in the terms and conditions for each bursary below.

Bursaries are awarded automatically to eligible applicants, so no separate application is required.

The Thrive bursary is a £4,000 reduction in tuition fees for the first year of study, with a progression bursary of £2,000 in subsequent years (applied as a discount off tuition fees). 

To be eligible for this bursary you must be domiciled in Bahrain, Bangladesh, Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Vietnam or Zimbabwe.

The Swansea University Nepal Bursary is a £6,000 reduction in tuition fees for the first year of study, with a progression bursary of £2,000 in subsequent years (applied as a discount off tuition fees).

This bursary is available to new self‑funding students domiciled in Nepal who are enrolling on an undergraduate course.

International Undergraduate Scholarships

The following Scholarships are currently available to new international, self‑funding students enrolling on an undergraduate course at Swansea University. Eligibility may differ for each Scholarship so please read the full guidance and terms and conditions before applying, to ensure we can process your application quickly.

We have a number of International Excellence Scholarships available to overseas students who have demonstrated academic excellence or show potential to do so during their time at Swansea University.

Scholarships are awarded as a discount on tuition fees worth up to £5,000 in the first year of study, with a further £2,000 awarded in Year 2 (for £5,000 awardees only, subject to achieving a 70% average).

Applications are currently closed but will open for September 2026 entry at 12:00 GMT on 2nd March 2026. Full terms and conditions will be available when applications open.

We can assist our sporting scholars in all areas of their academic and sporting life so they can continue to compete at the highest level whilst they complete their studies.
