Journal of policing, intelligence and counter terrorism.
Tia Atkins, a student at Swansea University undergraduate Criminology and Criminal Justice and Postgraduate Cyber Crime And Terrorism. Tia's interests are in domestic terrorism and attacks as well as counter terrorism methods and impact.
This project was produced as an undergraduate dissertation at Swansea University in 2021 which was then developed and adapted into the style of a journal article. The aim of the research was to investigate the impact of the Manchester Arena attack on victims in hoping to create policy changes and to learn from previous mistakes to ensure they are not repeated.
The topic of public safety and terrorism is a growing area in research; however, it is very rare to see a project that focuses on the needs of victims of terror attacks. Tia hopes to continue aiming to close the gap in these areas of research and highlight the importance of victim's voices following terror attacks.
