Swansea Law Clinic has launched Wales’ first dedicated personal injury advice clinic in collaboration with the award-winning London-based firm, Hodge Jones & Allen.
The personal injury clinic offers free, online 30-minute confidential personal injury advice appointments to members of the public with a member of the Hodge Jones & Allen Personal Injury team.
Available on Mondays between 4pm-5.30pm via Zoom or Teams, the personal injury clinic can help members of the public with initial advice on:
- Road traffic accidents, including claims involving pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, and other modes of transport
- Accidents at work
- Accidents in public places
- Fatal accidents and injuries
- Injuries caused by defective products
- Serious and complex injuries, e.g. head injuries, amputations, spinal cord injuries and serious orthopaedic and psychiatric injuries
- Burns, scalding and scarring
- Dental injury
- Eye injury
- PTSD
Swansea Law Clinic appointments are supported by fully trained Swansea University law students, providing them with an outstanding opportunity to acquire valuable skills crucial for their prospective legal careers.
Professor Richard Owen, director of Swansea Law Clinic, said: “We are very excited by this new collaboration with Hodge Jones & Allen. Personal injury claims are usually outside the scope of legal aid, and so this will create a pathway to justice for clients often with life-changing injuries, as well as helping our students develop the employability skills they need to be work ready on graduation.”
Daniel Denton, partner at Hodge Jones & Allen, said: “Weare looking forward to working with Swansea University and their student volunteers. I have always been committed to helping people who may wish to pursue a personal injury claim and working alongside students will provide added personal reward. It is important to me that everyone has an accessible route to understanding their rights and to be able to gain justice.”
