About

Professor Andrew Kemp is a Professor of Psychology and Research Lead for the School of Psychology. Andrew teaches and conducts research in existential positive psychology, wellbeing science and climate psychology.

Andrew came to Swansea in 2016 from the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil (2013-215), and before this, the University of Sydney in Australia. He holds a BA(Hons) in psychology from the University of Melbourne (1999) and a PhD in neuropsychopharmacology from Swinburne University of Technology (2004). He also holds a Doctor of Science degree from the University of Melbourne (2018), recognising outstanding, innovative and creative contributions to the field.

Andrew would welcome discussions with ambitious postgraduate students, postdoctoral researchers and colleagues regarding potential supervision, mentorship and research collaboration in relevant overlapping areas of interest.

Career Highlights

Teaching Interests

Professor Kemp teaches research methods, positive psychology and wellbeing science across several programmes including postgraduate taught courses and single and joint-honours undergraduate degrees in the School of Psychology.

In 2023, his positive psychology module for third year psychology students was selected as a case study for the Advance HE Compendium on Embedding Health and Wellbeing in the Curriculum.
