About

I qualified as a Social Worker in 1998. Following qualification I worked as a Social worker specialising in end of life care and renal medicine  in Oxford, I completed my practice assessors award there. I then returned to Wales and worked in a large hospital predominately with individuals with gynaecological cancers or acquired brain injuries. I also worked as an independent practice assessor. I transitioned into the field of Social work education in 2010.  Since then I have completed my HEA fellowship, and have recently successfully completed further training with the HEA on External examining. During my time with the programme I have been PLO tutor and am currently admissions tutor. I teach on both the MSc and the BSc and have been able to involve students in my passion for finding innovative ways to teach Social work, which I was able to present at the 2019 SALT conference.

Outside of work I keep up my involvement in working with vulnerable people by being a volunteer with re-engage which helps tackle loneliness in older people. I am an enthusiastic Welsh language learner and am keen to promote the rights of individuals to express themselves in their language of preference.
