Introduction to wave motion, physical and ray optics, thermodynamics, and kinetic theory.
This module introduces the fundamental principles of special relativity and applies them to relativistic particle dynamics.
In this module students will learn about current research in dark matter, dark energy and gravitational waves. Understanding Dark Matter and Dark Energy represent the most pressing open problem in cosmology, and the community currently dedicates a vast amount of theoretical and experimental effort, from galaxy surveys to gravitational wave experiments, to address this challenge. The second part of the module The detection of gravitational waves (GW) represents the most important advance in Physics in the past decade. This module introduces the students, from a theoretical perspective, to this rich and fascinating topic.
