Dr Erin Roberts is a socio-cultural geographer whose research explores the complex interactions between environmental policies and societal dynamics. She has a keen interest in how Net Zero and Carbon Removal strategies intersect with broader societal concerns such as land access, nature conservation, planetary and human health, food production, and housing. Her research primarily focuses on how these interactions are perceived by decision-makers and experienced by local communities, with a view to produce work that not only advances academic knowledge but also has practical implications for policy and community wellbeing.
Prior to joining Swansea University, Erin was a Research Associate at Cardiff University as part of the Understanding Risk Research group, where she worked on several projects exploring local perceptions of various novel low-carbon and carbon sequestration technologies and techniques. Erin completed her PhD in Social Science at Cardiff University, holds an MSc in Sustainability, Planning & Environmental Policy, also from Cardiff University, and a BA (Hons) in Human Geography from Aberystwyth University.
