Dr Karpagam Krishnamoorthy, popularly called by her students as “Dr K”, is an enthusiastic Anatomist. She has a background in Dentistry, and her love for teaching made her pursue a Masters and PhD in Medical Anatomy (India). She has worked as a lecturer at various institutions in India, and she is excited about her work with her team at The Swansea Medical School.

When she moved to the UK, she was more interested in knowing the medical education system, which motivated her to do another Masters in Human Anatomy with distinction from the reputed “University of Dundee”. Dr K also has a background in psychology, guidance, and counselling and has taken the role of pastoral support in all the institutions she has worked with. She also instigated research ideas in the field of education, behavioural sciences and human anatomy from the undergraduate level- the work of which shows in her journal publications. Acknowledging her efforts in research she was awarded the second highest publications award at the Saveetha University during the year 2016-2017. She was also nominated for the best teaching faculty award for the year 2019- 2020 at the SRM Dental College by the Year 1 dental students.

Dr K actively participates in various anatomy conferences and workshops where she has presented papers on anatomical education. During her postgraduation at the University of Dundee, she worked on using 3D virtual tools in Anatomical Education and also took a 2nd elective module on “Learning and Teaching”. Hence, she is looking forward to working with her colleagues at Swansea University to bring more innovation to Medical Education.
