Lisa earned a BSc in Biology and a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Virginia Commonwealth University, Medical College of Virginia in the United States. After a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco studying the basic science of addiction, she was appointed to a lectureship in Medical Pharmacology at Cardiff University. She is now a Professor of Pharmacology and Medical Sciences Education here at Swansea University where she is the Associate Dean (International) for the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science, and Chair of the University’s Programme Approval Committee. She is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy with interests in curriculum development and quality assurance, having worked on projects with the British Pharmacological Society, the Royal Society of Biology, the Quality Assurance Agency, and the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education. Her laboratory work focuses on novel in vivo, invertebrate models for the investigation of psychoactive substances. Lisa is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, and a Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society. She is a former British Pharmacological Society Vice President for Academic Development and currently serves as a General Trustee.
