In practical words, he has been working as both a practitioner and a researcher in several fields: hydrology and hydrometeorology using advanced computer modelling studying extreme events; weather radars and rainfall nowcasting; flood risk management and climate change impact/adaption in water sector.
Dr Xuan strives to contribute to the learner and professional communities. This includes his other undertakings as the Vice Chair of the Welsh Local Centre of the Royal Meteorological Society, Review Editor of the Weather journal and Board Member of the Conference Committee of the Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications.
Dr Xuan welcomes prospective PhD students in the following areas or closely related. Please get in touch use the contact info on this page:
- Climate change impact on extreme hydrological events and adaptation
- GIS/Remote sensing applications in Hydrological modelling and flood risk management
- Weather Radar, NWP and their applications in Hydrological modelling and flood risk management.
