Why did you choose Swansea University?

One of the main reasons I chose Swansea University was the course that was offered. I wanted to study Economics and Finance and Swansea University was one of the universities that offered both together as a degree. In addition, Swansea University offers a year industry pathway which I was interested in as I wanted to gain proper work experience by working in a company for a year.

Swansea University offers a huge variety of sports, clubs and societies including the dance society. I have been dancing all my life and I wanted to continue doing so throughout university. I researched the dance society at Swansea University and saw that the society offered a wide range of dance styles that I was interested in from Ballroom and Latin to Hip Hop and Rhythmic Gymnastics. I joined this society as soon as I started university and have truly enjoyed it thus far!
The employability support that Swansea University offers is incredible. They will assist you in getting jobs, providing career guidance and helping you as such as possible to get the job you want.

Lastly, the location of the university is absolutely amazing as one of the campuses is next to the beach and the other is in a park. Therefore, the scenery is lovely especially during spring and summer, as you can go swimming in the ocean or walk in the park and take in the beautiful surroundings. In addition, there are lovely coastal areas you can visit around Swansea.

I completed my year in industry as the Employability and Placements Assistant for the Employability Team in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the university. I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, and it was definitely the best year of university so far. I had numerous experiences throughout my placement where I gained new skills and had the opportunity to develop existing skills. I completed tasks that allowed me to grow as a person and took me out of my comfort zone.
I was fortunate enough to have numerous opportunities that expanded my network especially with employees at big companies and other financial institutions such as HSBS, Aldermore Bank and Deloitte . This will be beneficial when looking for graduate jobs soon. My placement year was remarkable, and I do not regret doing a placement year as I have learnt so much and gained valuable experience which will help me in many ways.
