What are your favourite things about Swansea?

I love how Mumbles is an hour walk from campus, but the city centre is also only a 30-minute walk away and the beach sunsets are unbeatable! I cycle to university every day and due to the pavements being wider it means you can avoid cycling the roads, it’s a great and safe way to keep fit. I also love how friendly and safe the city is it makes it feel much more like home.

Why did you choose to study your degree at Swansea?

I personally chose to study at Swansea as the course is less exam weighted, I only do two in-person exams a year the rest of my assessments are learning packs, essays, and multiple-choice quizzes. I wanted to do a joint honour while keeping my BPS accreditation in psychology, Swansea offers this. Employability was important to me and Swansea offers an awesome employability academy to help you find work and prepare you for work post-graduation.

What is your favourite thing about your course?

I love the split between my two subjects, taking sociology and psychology means I get to study society and individuals from two separate perspectives, which has really stretched my understanding and kept me engaged. The two subjects also recruit two different teaching techniques: psychology is much more factual, and theory based whereas sociology takes on more of a discussion approach this split keeps me much more engaged mentally and allows me to view situations and concepts from two separate standpoints.

What are you planning/hoping to do after you graduate?

Post-graduation I hope to go into areas of health and holistics looking at how diet, health, exercise, and lifestyle can help with mental wellbeing.

Are you/have you been part of a society?

I’m a discovery volunteer and currently training to become a connect project supporter. Discovery offers all types of training and volunteer work it’s an awesome way to meet people, do something rewarding and boost your CV. Finally, I’m a member of the disability committee, which is also really rewarding, we work with wellbeing and disability serves to get students voices heard and help improve student experienc
