Global Engagement provides leadership and support to further the University’s strategic aspirations of developing, growing and maintaining high quality, sustainable partnerships with external organisations and institutions.
Its work primarily focuses on the development and support of academic partnerships, exchange and study abroad partnerships for student mobility, and International Strategic Partnerships.
Global Engagement brings together institutions and organisations from around the world to develop and deliver innovative international programmes, collaborations, and partnerships with world-class universities such as Universite Grenoble Alpes, Wuhan University, IIT Madras, University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, and Paris Sorbonne, to name just a few.
Bringing Universities Together
These global partnerships deliver innovative programmes for students, enhanced student skills and employability, impactful collaborative research and opportunities for staff development and mobility.
Innovative degrees include double Master's programmes, joint, double and collaborative PhDs, prestigious Erasmus Mundus Master’s degrees and a number of dual degree programmes with Trent University in Canada. In addition, the University partners with high quality institutions overseas to deliver Swansea University degrees to students via franchise or flying faculty arrangements, while closer to home, it partners with a number of Welsh Further Education colleges to deliver work-based degrees.
The University's International Strategic Partnerships with Grenoble Alpes University and Texas - which include collaborations in research and teaching, joint degrees, staff and student exchange across all subject areas - have been highlighted as examples of best practice within the sector.
