Swansea University's partnership with Fujitsu, which includes the Schools of Management and Medicine, is built upon collaborations in fields ranging from High Performance Computing to Assisted Living Technologies.
Aligned with the Swansea Bay City Region City Deal, Fujitsu has established a development office with 15 staff working from the Bay Campus, delivering projects with ABMU Health Board, the University and wider industry across the region and further afield.
Fujitsu has also opened its new technology-focused Education Innovation Hub in the University's School of Management. One of a number of hubs set up across the UK to equip schools, colleges and universities with high performance solutions to support digital skills development the Innovation Hub aims to enhance teaching and unleash students' potential by putting technology at the heart of education.
This local presence supports activities including graduate placement opportunities, hackathon events and the Talent Bank STEM initiative with Gower College.
Furthermore, Fujitsu is sponsoring PhD and academic research projects in fields of Open Innovation, Health & Wellbeing and the built environment, involving research links with colleagues locally in the UK as well as wider EU and Japan. These projects are developing a pipeline of innovations to reflect the region’s ‘Internet Coast’ ambitions.
