ELTS has a duty of care to safeguard all students aged under 18 in its care. ELTS will ensure the safety and protection of all under 18s enrolled on its programmes through adherence to the Safeguarding guidelines that we have adopted.
We will endeavour to ensure that under 18s are protected whilst studying at ELTS. We will do this by:
- making sure all staff are carefully selected and DBS checked.
- providing appropriate training for staff in issues of child protection.
- providing a dedicated Safeguarding Officer who meets all under 18s on a weekly basis.
- taking attendance and monitoring student behaviour.
- ensuring that students are supervised during lessons and trips.
- adhering to the University Safeguarding Vulnerable groups policy.
- providing students with a 24-hour emergency contact number.
- providing each student with an under 18s handbook.
- checking all homestay providers are DBR by the accommodation providers
- ensuring trips and activities will be age appropriate with risk assessments undertaken
