Acadia University is located in Wolfville Nova Scotia, overlooking the Annapolis Valley and the Bay of Fundy and a short drive from Halifax the capital of the province. With temperatures ranging from the mid 20s when you arrive to -25 in the winter; you’ll certainly experience a wide temperature range and plenty of winter snow. Acadia is consistently ranked in the top universities in Canada for undergraduate studies. Sport plays a big role in life at Acadia with their varsity teams winning more national championships than any other University in Atlantic Canada. So if you would like a small University with a big community feel then look no further. Students are normally able to access on campus accommodation.
It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.
Who can study here?
Swansea has a ‘university-wide’ partnership with this university which means that it is open to all subject areas except for American Studies, Media Studies, Early Childhood Studies, Criminology, Social Policy, Law or Engineering
Spaces are not guaranteed, can be limited and all students on a semester/year abroad programme are subject to a university-wide, competitive selection process.

ACADEMIC YEAR: Runs September to April.
COSTS: The cost of living in Acadia will vary depending on the type of accommodation and meal plan you select. More information on preparing your budget to study in Canada can be found here.
VISA: You will need a Study Permit and will be required to provide financial evidence of at least CAN$20,635 (subject to change). The Study Permit application fee is approx. CAN$150. Your host university will provide you with more information about the application process. You must allow enough time to complete the study permit application and for your study permit to be processed and sent to you. There can be significant delays, so please do not leave this until the last minute as you cannot travel to Canada without it.
ACCOMMODATION: Accepted students are guaranteed on-campus accommodation if they apply by the deadline and includes a meal plan option. This deadline for application is usually the end of June. Off campus accommodation is also available, but students are strongly encouraged to select on-campus options. Information on living in Acadia can be found here.
HEALTH INSURANCE: You will be required to purchase mandatory health insurance for your time at Acadia. All exchange students are required to purchase the ASU Health, Dental and International Medical Plan and the plan provides coverage for doctors and emergency room visits.
