The University of Bonn is located in the city of Bonn on the banks of the river Rhine; it is half an hour's drive south of Cologne and just an hour and a half from the Belgian border.  Bonn used to be the capital city of Germany and because of this, it is still a very international place to be with a great cultural scene and home to some global institutions such as some of the UN offices. Bonn is in one of Germany’s warmest regions, winters are cool but summers are quite mild. Bonn is the alma mater of Karl Marx and Friedrich Nietzsche. German language courses are available for students looking to improve their German.
