TASM 2024 at Swansea University
#TASMConf 2024 took place on 18-19 June, with 252 registered delegates from 25 countries across the world. The delegates included researchers from a range of academic disciplines and a large number of non-academic stakeholders, including representatives from Meta, TikTok, Google, GIFCT, Tech Against Terrorism, the Christchurch Call Advisory Network, Meta’s Oversight Board, the UK Home Office, the UN, European Commission, Ofcom, London Metropolitan Police, Europol, Coimisiún na Meán, Moonshot, ISD, RUSI, Hedayah, the ADL and the UK Commission for Countering Extremism.
Over the two days participants were able to select from 32 different breakout panels, featuring 100+ speakers, covering a wide range of different topics. Copies of the abstracts are available below.
The keynote session featured a presentation from Brian Fishman, the co-founder of Cinder who previously led Facebook’s work countering terrorist organizations and hate groups. The recording of his presentation can be found here.
The conference concluded with a roundtable discussion with Anjum Rahman (Inclusive Aotearoa Collective Tāhono), Dia Kayyali (Christchurch Call Advisory Network) and Anne Craanen (VOX-Pol Institute), discussing stakeholder collaboration and inclusivity.
