30-minute Initial Advice Appointments

FREE 30-minute initial advice appointments with a solicitor or paralegal can be arranged. These appointments are held on Zoom.

Appointments are arranged on a case-by-case basis depending on the volunteer solicitor’s availability, ability to advise in the particular area of law, and provided they have no conflicts in advising.

Student Advisor Appointments

FREE appointments with our student advisors can be arranged during term times. Appointments are used as information-gathering sessions, which are then followed-up by a legal advice letter.

Please note we are currently closed to new enquiries and will reopen in September 2026 with appointments available in October 2026.

We cannot take appointments for issues that concern criminal law, will writing, tax and debt. We also cannot assist any person wishing to pursue a claim against the University, its governors, employees or students. Nor can we assist in claims that may create a conflict of interest for our supervising law firms. We reserve the right not to give advice in any particular case.

Students can gain real-life experience by enrolling on the twenty credit Clinical Legal Education module, LAA366 (Semester One) and LAA367 (Semester Two).

Students can also take part in Clinic activity on an extra-curricular basis through a range of different projects, including the Miscarriage of Justice Project, Appointment Shadowing, Street Law and other projects. Student volunteer recruitment takes place annually at the beginning of Semester One.
