Swansea University has agreed a partnership with two Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) providers to deliver high-quality student accommodation in the city.
The university has signed a three-year deal with true student and Seren to supplement their existing student accommodation offerings at Singleton Park, Bay Campus and Beck House. The new accommodation is available to undergraduate, post-graduate and international students and has capacity for up to 800 students – with 550 places at true student and 250 with Seren.
Both sites are located in prime locations at the heart of the city. Seren is opposite the Swansea railway station while true student is at Morfa Road, in view of the River Tawe, and both have easy access to frequent direct bus services to the university’s two campuses.
Like all university residences, these new sites offer students a Swansea University experience. Students will be part of the ResNet (Resident's network) which posts information on Students’ Union events, Student Resident news and campaigns for both the Union and the residential areas. They will also have the support of 24-hour security patrols and emergency response, an on-site residence management team and Resident Life Assistants (RLAs).
A wide range of accommodation options are offered, including ensuite rooms in flats, studio style rooms, plus accessible accommodation, with costs being in line with other accommodation offered by the university. They also provide a range of onsite services and facilities including a full events calendar, gyms, social spaces, outside spaces, BBQ facilities and bike storage. Residents at true student can also visit a Festival Zone, pizzeria, and garden, while Seren has a terrace, laundrette, Greggs bakery and Tesco store.
Swansea University’s Registrar and Chief Operating Officer, Niamh Lamond said:
“We are delighted to have this new agreement with true student and Seren which will mean that all first-year students, including those who come through Clearing, will be guaranteed accommodation as part of our offer to them. It also gives our students an even wider range of accommodation choices, while still giving them that all-important Swansea University experience.”
Ben Morley, Managing Director at true student, commented:
“This collaboration is great news for Swansea students, more of whom will now get the chance to experience everything we offer here at true Swansea, and for the university, which is keen to broaden the types of accommodation options it can offer. But, beyond that, this is a fantastic endorsement of true student that demonstrates how important it is for providers to look beyond the bricks and mortar and to put student care, experience and wellbeing at the very heart of their operations. I’m really looking forward to building this relationship with Swansea University to truly elevate the Swansea student experience.”
Adam Campbell from Seren said:
“Seren is proud to be in partnership with Swansea University on this 3-year Nomination Agreement with our operator CRM having a long successful history of developing and maintaining strong ties with prominent educational establishments. Seren’s best in class accommodation located in the heart of Swansea offers students an extensive range of facilities which will help them work, rest and play.
“Seren has a priority focus on student health and wellbeing with initiatives running throughout the whole year and an extended collaboration on these with Swansea University is something the team is looking forward to. The onsite retail units include Tesco, Greggs and Coffee Blue which provides students with ideal convenience to keep energy levels topped up during those busy study periods while the gym, basketball courts and free bike hire service can offer a welcome break from studying. Seren is confident that Swansea University students will have a fantastic experience while staying with us and will help to make their time studying in Swansea a memorable one.”
