Aldermore Bank Hosts Annual 'Strategy in Business' Workshop for Swansea and Cardiff University Students

This year, the event took place at the MotoNovo Finance office in Cardiff and was marked by the presence of Aldermore Bank colleagues who recently transitioned from education to employment, offering invaluable shared experiences.

The transition from academia to industry can be a challenging and daunting task, with graduates taking an average of 3 to 18 months to secure their first job. With approximately 800,000 students set to graduate in 2024, initiatives like the 'Strategy in Business' workshop are crucial in preparing students for the workforce.

Aldermore Bank is committed to increasing levels of readiness among local students and providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to confidently take the next step in their careers. The day began with an insightful presentation on Aldermore Bank's organisational strategy by Sales Optimisation Director Chris Rowthorn. This was followed by a careers panel featuring Katie Winiberg (HR Graduate Assistant), Pippa Monger (Group Head of Test & Development), and Hannah Levie (Regulated Trainer), who shared their career journeys and engaged in a Q&A session.

The highlight of the workshop was an immersive strategy exercise led by Talent & Early Careers Partner Francesca Webster Assoc CIPD. This exercise allowed students to apply their learning in a practical setting, followed by inductive and deductive reasoning exercises to conclude the day.

Morwenna Tyler, Business Engagement Consultant (careers) Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, commented on the event, saying, "A really intense day of group activities and assessment-style tasks. Our students were amazing!"
