About

I graduated with a first class honours degree, from Swansea University, in Clinical Physiology specialising in respiratory and sleep physiology. I have since completed an MSc in Professional Science, a postgraduate certificate in higher education teaching, and been accredited as a Clinical Scientist.

I have worked in various NHS services in England and Wales as a Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist, and maintain an honorary clinical contract at Singleton Hospital.

I coordinate the Help Me Quit smoking cessation service available to staff, students and the public at the University.

Alongside my lecturing duties, I am responsible for ensuring students have a positive placement learning experience throughout their 3 year degree. This has led me to developing exciting learning opportunities in the UK and abroad for students

Areas Of Expertise

  • Lung Function (spirometry, gas transfer and static lung volumes)
  • Sleep analysis, diagnosis and treatment (level 2 and 3 sleep studies)
  • Smoking cessation
  • Accessible learning

Career Highlights

Research

My current research theme is around moving care closer to home, i.e. bringing some respiratory and sleep tests out into the community/general practices. I am interested to see whether this helps to reduce the burden on hospital services, car parks and wards.
