About

Emma is a professionally qualified accountant and a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Working as a financial controller for national and international companies has given her broad experience of UK accountancy procedures and International Financial Reporting Standards. With a wealth of industrial experience, she embeds this within her teaching to provide students with real world examples to show that accountancy is both interesting and important as well as being a worthwhile career choice.

Her innovative teaching methods and specialist knowledge of e-learning has enabled her to deliver record results for the accounting department in terms of degree outcomes and student feedback. Modules created by Emma have been singled out by employers for their vocational value and praised by students who have identified these modules as giving them an employability edge during the highly competitive graduate recruitment process. Emma has received many awards from the school for her contribution to teaching including the university-wide Excellence in Learning and Teaching award.

During her time at Swansea University, Emma has held a number of administrative roles including Programme Director and School of Management Lead for the Swansea Academy of Learning and Teaching. Her commitment to teaching and enhancing the student learning experience led Emma to being awarded her Senior Fellowship in 2017 with the Higher Education Academy.
