About

Hafiz is a Professor in the Accounting and Finance department in the School of Management. He is the Director of the Hawkes Centre for Empirical Finance. He has a PhD from Bayes (formerly Cass) Business School. Hafiz has an extensive publication record with over 20 publications in 4* and 3* ABS listed journals along with over 900 citations. Hafiz’s research interest includes corporate finance, corporate boards, director’s network, bank regulations, credit default swaps, green innovation and climate change and finance, and ESG. He has attracted grant incomes of over £100,000 in the last ten years. Hafiz has supervised 8 Phd students to completion and welcoming interesting Phd applications.

MN-M002 Principles of International Finance

This module introduces the fundamental concepts and ideas in finance with an emphasis on the application of concepts and theories to real-world financial decisions. Students will also learn how to make use of financial databases such DATASTREAM.
MN-M066 Climate Change and its Economic Impact

Greenhouse gas emissions including methane and carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels trap the sun¿s heat within the earth¿s atmosphere and raise global temperatures. The rising temperature creates changes in weather patterns which negatively impact countries, economies and people. This module will examine drivers of climate change and its impact on weather patterns such as intense droughts, water scarcity, severe fires, rising sea levels, flooding, melting polar ice, severe storms and declining biodiversity. It will focus on the risks created by climate change for companies and economies. It will also examine the solutions to climate change including the Paris Climate Change Agreement to limit global temperature rises and the need for adaptation to climate change.
