About

Lily is an experienced Occupational Therapist, Lecturer and Early Career Researcher. Before commencing her lecturer role at Swansea University, Lily spent over 15 years in varied clinical settings and leadership roles in both the National Health Service and later the Governmental Private Sector. She worked and studied in London and the South-East for many years, before returning to Swansea, where she grew up.

With a strong passion for mental health and recovery-orientated practices, Lily spent much of her career in diverse mental health settings, within some of the most economically under-resourced and richly diverse areas of London -  across the lifespan (adolescent, adult, older adult services), including acute inpatient wards, intensive care, and community rehabilitation. Whilst in mental health, she furthered her training in public health (Social Epidemiology) and psychological therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused (Family) Therapies and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Lily also spent some years transitioning into cognitive and physical rehabilitation services (acute and community), including Dementia care and Cardiac Rehabilitation.

Lily has an MA in Education (Distinction) and a BSc in Occupational Therapy (First class Honours). She is currently a PhD Candidate in Education with a particular focus on Identity and Belonging and how these intersect with Spaces and Places to shape Becoming. As well as numerous conference contributions, Lily has contributed chapters to groundbreaking occupational therapy textbooks over the years, including Occupational Therapies without Borders, Anti-racist Occupational Therapy and more recently, Caribbean Perspectives on Occupational Therapy in the United Kingdom, where she also serves on the editorial team. She was recently awarded the Learned Society of Wales Culture Networks Grant and further University funding, to implement a residential mentoring programme for UK-wide minoritised researchers at Swansea University in July 2026.

Alongside her Lecturer role, Lily serves as School of Health and Social Care Engagement and Inclusivity Lead and Leadership team at Swansea University Race Equality Network (SIREN), where she leads on mentoring. She is an external examiner, serves on the BAME Expert Advisory Group to the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and has further taken up an opportunity, more recently, to serve as reviewer for the Journal of Occupational Science.
