About
Rongxin Chen is a Lecturer in Finance at the School of Management, Swansea University. He started this position in September 2023. He earned his PhD in Finance in 2023 and an MSc in Risk & Finance in 2019, both from the University of Southampton. He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).
Rongxin’s research focuses on how psychological factors affect decision-making and their impact on financial markets and firm outcomes. His research has been published in prominent journals, such as the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, and the International Review of Financial Analysis. He has also presented his work at several international conferences. He is an ad hoc reviewer for the International Journal of Finance & Economics.
Rongxin welcomes research proposals from outstanding and motivated potential PhD candidates. He is keenly interested in supervising research topics that are broadly related to, but not limited to, the following areas:
- Behavioural Finance (e.g., empirical testing of psychological and sociological factors among different groups, such as investors, CEOs, and auditors)
- Asset Pricing (e.g., the cross-section of asset returns, such as stocks and cryptocurrencies)
- Other potential topics within Behavioural Finance, Asset Pricing, Financial Markets, Cryptocurrencies, Big Data & Machine Learning in Finance, Corporate Finance & Governance
