Why did you choose to study at Swansea University?
The modules and course structure at Swansea university very systematically covered aspects of clinical psychology from foundations to other practical applications.
Can you tell us about your course and what do you enjoy the most?
I am studying clinical psychology. I think I just like to know how the mind works. The kind of control a single thought can have over a person’s life, how a few kind or unkind words from a friend or stranger can completely turn someone’s life around – it’s almost like studying magic.
What are your three favourite things about Swansea?
- This one is kind of obvious – it’s right by the beach! Every time I pass by Mumbles or when I enter or leave the Singleton campus, I feel the open skies, the vastness beyond the beach newly every time; maybe because I’m still new, or maybe it’s just a poet’s heart.
- I like the people here. Someone always holds the door open for me, someone always lets me know what to do when I’m lost – and I’m lost often, and apart from the bus system, almost everything is quite dependable. :p
- I feel like the world is within my reach. I meet different people from different cultures every day, I learn something new every day, I feel like I can reinvent myself here. I love learning and doing new things and Swansea has given me the opportunity to do that every day.
Would you recommend Swansea University to other international students?
Yes! Definitely! The education is great, the campus has all the facilities a student needs, there are campus clubs and societies for faith, sports, hobbies, politics, and support communities as well (although I have never accessed them).
The university is also politically active in its pursuit of inclusivity and recognition of gender, sexuality, race, and other minorities.
