We want as many people as possible to be able to use the Student Profile and Online Enrolment System, feel welcome and find the experience rewarding.
For example, that means that in the enrolment process you should be able to:

The Student Profile and Online Enrolment System has been evaluated by our internal specialist and is certified as partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.
We know some parts of https://intranet.swan.ac.uk/studentprofile/ such as the student profile and enrolment landing page aren't as accessible as they should be and issues with these areas include:
- The student profile pages have no headings.
- The student profile and landing page have no landmarks.
- The student profile and enrolment landing page pages use tables for layout.
- The student profile and enrolment landing page have no skip to main feature.
- The student profile and enrolment landing pag pages are not responsive, so will not scale on a mobile device.

Alt descriptions and tags are missing from images showing how identity documents should be uploaded.
WCAG 2.1 success criterion: 1.3.1 Info and Relationships
No Landmarks (Landing Page and Student Profile)
The page does not use any landmarks (banner, nav, main and contentInfo)
Tables used for layout (Landing Page and Student Profile)
Older intranet pages use tables for presentation and layout.
Heading levels are similar to each other (Landing Page)
Headings levels are not visibly distinct between H1 and H2.

Numerous pages on older intranet are titled Student Profile, rather than uniquely.
WCAG 2.1 success criterion: 2.4.3 Focus Order
Sidebar Links are presented first in tab order (Landing Page and Student Profile)
Older intranet pages dictate a tab focus order that is not representative of page use.
WCAG 2.1 success criterion: 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context)
Student Photo Advice help uses “Here” link (Student Profile)
A link labelled “here” is used for advice on uploading correct type of photo.
Generic information link used for each module (Module Selection)
Each module has a link titled "Module Information", without the context of a visual table a screen reader user would not know where link is taking them.
WCAG 2.1 success criterion: 2.4.6 Headings and Labels
No Headings (Student Profile)
No headings on Student Profile page which would assistive technologies use.
No Form labels on uploader (Student Profile)
The photo uploader has no descriptive label to discern its purpose. The uploader relies on visual context to show purpose and usage.
Module Selection has two H1 (Identity Documents)
The H1 tag has been used twice on the Identity Documents page.
WCAG 2.1 success criterion: 2.4.7 Focus Ring
No focus ring is applied to sidebar links (Landing Page and Student Profile)
Keyboard users have no visible focus ring when tabbing through sidebar links on older intranet pages. Buttons and links receive a focus ring when in main content area of page.
WCAG 2.1 success criterion: 2.5.3 Label in Name
On Mobile Account label not available (Enrolment Process pages)
The account button is reduced to an icon and label is hidden from view, but this also hides it from assistive technology.
WCAG 2.1 success criterion: 3.1.1 Language of Page
No Language attribute added (Landing Page and Student Profile)
The older intranet pages have no lang attribute to support screen reader usage.
WCAG 2.1 success criterion: 3.3.1 Error Identification
Uploader Advice Message (Student Profile)
The student photo uploader shows advice into the page only when a file has been added. This message is not announced to assistive technology and must be focused to be read aloud.
WCAG 2.1 success criterion: 4.1.1 Parsing
HTML and JavaScript Errors (Landing Page)
The page has an orphaned tag and misused JavaScript attributes for document type.
Duplicate IDs have been used on radio inputs (Tuition Fees and Module Selection)
Radio inputs on Module Selection and Tuition Fees have duplicate IDs.
WCAG 2.1 success criterion: 4.1.3 Name, Role, Value
Accordion Widget (Landing Page and Student Profile)
The sidebar uses a custom widget to open and collapse a subset of links. Interactions do not announce states and also hide links from a screen reader's elements view.
