Academics at Swansea University's College of Engineering have been working hard over the last year to provide the best possible learning experience to their students. This has proved difficult, given that the majority of their study involves working with physical parts in on-campus laboratories.
Students on two modules are now benefitting from creative resources that the College is providing with the aim of enhancing learning and assessment.
70 students on a Digital Manufacturing module have been sent 3D printers on loan to their homes, allowing them to practice problem-solving and design work for assessments. Lecturers on a Data Integration in Mechanical Systems' module have also gone the extra mile for over 220 students, creating technical kits that can be delivered or collected from campus. These consisted of a programmable micro controller, a sensor and connecting leads, which altogether will teach students about data capture through digital sensors.
