Welsh-medium taster sessions and review days
Academi Hywel Teifi has an officer responsible for the contact of Welsh-medium schools. We organise taster days that include sessions on a variety of subjects that the University has to offer through the medium of Welsh. These taster sessions can range from Modern Languages and History, for example, to a practical session in Zoology, Medicine or Nursing. We also offer review days for a specific subject. In the past, the Department of Welsh A Level events have focused specifically on the curriculum that is of great benefit to the pupils and indeed, the teachers too.
Welsh Baccalaureate
Last year Academi Hywel Teifi held an event on the Welsh Baccalaureate for year 12 and 13 pupils on the Bay Campus. The Baccalaureate is now a statutory part of the national curriculum and is intended to intensify pupils' experiences and skills as they study A level. The event was organised in close collaboration with the WJEC to ensure that the content of the day was beneficial for pupils and teachers in terms of the requirements of the national curriculum. Following the success of the event, the Education Outreach Team at the National Assembly for Wales is keen to collaborate further to hold similar events.
