The Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law held its 7th Webinar of the calendar year focusing on the Enrica Lexie incident.
The webinar provided a broad coverage of the various legal aspects connected to the Award that was handed down a little over a year ago, on 21 May 2020, by an Arbitral Tribunal established pursuant to Annex VII of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. It also looked to the future, and reflected on the legacy of the Tribunal’s Award.
The event was chaired by Dr Youri van Logchem (IISTL). Professor Maria Gavouneli (National & Kapodistrian University of Athens), Dr Arron Honniball (Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law), and Dr James Devaney (University of Glasgow) presented papers sharing their views on the case. We are grateful to them and the audience who joined us from all parts of the world and for their interesting questions.
