The Centre for People and Organisation (C4PO) at Swansea University’s School of Management recently hosted their Annual Symposium, focusing on the critical theme of sustainable and equitable organising. The event, which drew a diverse crowd of academics, industry professionals, and students, featured a keynote address, research presentations, and dynamic discussions.

A highlight of the symposium was the keynote speech delivered by Professor Martin Parker of Bristol University. Professor Parker, renowned for his work on alternative organisations, set the tone with his insightful exploration of how businesses can operate more sustainably and equitably in today’s complex environment.

The symposium also showcased cutting-edge research from three of C4PO’s talented researchers. Dr Leanne Greening, Dr Sarah Marks, and Dr Matt Wilson each presented their latest findings, emphasizing innovative strategies and practical solutions to foster equitable organisational practices. Their presentations sparked meaningful dialogue among attendees, reinforcing the symposium's theme.

Complementing the research presentations, six doctoral candidates affiliated with C4PO presented posters detailing their ongoing research. These poster sessions allowed for in-depth discussions and feedback, culminating in an audience vote for the best poster. Congratulations to Lucy Griffiths, whose outstanding poster earned her the top honour.

The day concluded with a lively panel discussion that brought together a range of perspectives from both academia and industry. The panel featured invited guests Lisa Hand, People Experience Director at OGI (Broadband) Wales, Mike Bobbett, Associate Director of Business Innovation at The Wallich, and Mike Walmsley, Head of Income Generation at Hope Rescue Centre. Joining them were Dr Hadar Elraz and Dr Mariya Mathai from the C4PO. The discussion explored  the practical challenges and opportunities of implementing sustainable and equitable practices within various organisational contexts.

The Annual Symposium not only highlighted the groundbreaking work being done by the Centre for People and Organisation but also fostered a collaborative environment for sharing ideas and forging new partnerships. The event underscored Swansea University’s commitment to addressing pressing global issues through research and innovation.
