Swansea University has been shortlisted for a Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Excellence Award.

This exclusive award recognises the academic institutions that have trained CIMA’s Top Students of The Year. This category is not open for nomination but is managed by a central CIMA committee group who assess the eligibility based on pass marks and the institution’s ability to encourage students to take their CIMA exams before graduation.

The Excellence Awards also recognise Academic Partners who have worked tirelessly to equip CIMA-qualified graduates and students for future-ready careers.

Head of the Accounting and Finance Department at the School of Management, Sarah Jones, said:

“It is an honour that Swansea University has been recognised for the work we do in ensuring our students are career-ready and are taught the most relevant, current content which will give them a competitive advantage when they begin their careers in the field. CIMA is a globally recognised accrediting body and this prestigious shortlisting is testament to the hard work of our students and staff within the School of Management.”

Professor Steve Cook, Head of the Department of Economics commented:

“This shortlisting is wonderful news. The Department of Economics is incredibly proud of the achievements of its students and wishes to congratulate them on their well-deserved success at a global level, which has meant that we, as an institution, have been shortlisted for an Excellence Award. An absolutely outstanding achievement!”

CIMA is the world’s leading and largest professional body of management accountants. It helps individuals and businesses to succeed by harnessing the full power of management accounting – not just accounting for the balance sheet, but accounting for business.

The Award Ceremony will take place on December 11, 2020. More information, can be found here.
