• CR-D00 Dissertation (Social Research)

  This dissertation module provides an opportunity for the student to undertake an extensive piece of academic writing based on an original piece of research conducted by the student. The dissertation is a medium to demonstrate the student¿s understanding of the processes of social research as applied to their own discipline.

• CR-M02 Introduction to Research and Study Skills

  This module aims to provide students with the necessary generic skills to undertake research successfully, including organisation and time management skills, handling relationships with supervisors and research personnel (informants, gatekeepers etc), use of bibliographic sources, conduct of literature searches, use of internet, communicating research results, making oral presentations and writing for different audiences and purposes.

• CR-M03 Data Collection Methods and Analysis

  This module aims to provide students with an overview of the range of data collection methods available to individuals undertaking research and to enable the student to consider the implications, application strengths and weaknesses of the various data collection methods. The module will also provide insight into the ways that such methods may be applied effectively and ethically in social research.

• PPS105 Social Inquiry in Practice

  The module begins students¿ development of knowledge of research. It aims to particularly focus on knowledge and understanding of the research process. The main aim is to assist students to apply knowledge and skills of research methods to their own personal and professional development.
