University to host GwyddonLe at Maldwyn Urdd Eisteddfod 2024
Swansea University is very proud to be sponsoring the GwyddonLe science pavilion at the Urdd Eisteddfod once again this year as the Eisteddfod visits the Meifod area in Maldwyn. Swansea University staff and students will welcome you with a host of interactive scientific activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy. As well as experiments, puzzles and games with contributors such as Technocamps and the Virtual Reality team, there will also be an opportunity to create art and craft pieces to coinside with the GwyddonLe theme this year, which is Energy.
One of the main events of the GwyddonLe by now is the public debating competition, the Morgan Institute Challenge which has been attracting a large audience for a few years. The competition is held on the GwyddonLe stage on Friday, giving school pupils from years 10 to 13 the opportunity to present arguments for and against a current hot topic. This year, Professor Trystan Watson, from Swansea University's School of Engineering, has set the debate topic, "A Carbon-Free Future for Wales: Dream or Reality?", and Professor Watson will be present to judge the competition on May 31st.
Professor Gwenno Ffrancon, Swansea University's Deputy Assistant Vice-Chancellor for Welsh Language, Heritage and Culture, said:

The GwyddonLe is now one of the main attractions of the Eisteddfod, welcoming tens of thousands of young people every year.
