First Symposium of its kind to be held by the Swansea Branch
As part of the tenth anniversary celebrations of the Swansea University Branch of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, a Research Symposium was organised for postgraduate students to present their research work, whether funded by the Coleg Cymraeg or not. This was the first Symposium of its kind to be held by the Branch and the event, held at Taliesin Studio in December, was extremely successful.
Maisie Edwards, Megan Kendall, Ben Walkling, Alpha Evans and Iolo Jones each presented their research work which varied greatly from Medical to Geographical fields as can be seen from the titles of the presentations below:
- Public Opinion on the Welsh Language within Primary Care in Wales
- Understanding Oxide Formation on Carbon Steel Tubes during High Temperature Processing
- How to Categorise Coal Tips
- Culture, Language and Legal Operations: Swansea, 1890-1914
- The Latin-Welsh Dictionary (Thomas, 1979): its historical context, development and future
The symposium was chaired by Indeg Owen, Swansea Branch Officer and was an opportunity for students to display and discuss their research work. The audience also had the opportunity to ask questions at the end of each presentation. What a great experience for the students!
