VILL@GE – Virtual Language Learning Through Entertainment Activities is a follow-on project to VIRLAN (EU Education Multimedia Joint Call project 1998-99) conducted at the instigation of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme.
It is designed to use, adapt and design virtual world technologies as foreign language learning environments and to provide an exemplar in this field. The inclusion of testing and monitoring of learner knowledge and progress fits with the section’s research activities and provides an abundance of empirical data for publication.
The research, which is funded by the the EU Lifelong Learning Programme (143370-2008-LLP-GR-KA2-KA2MP), is a collaboration between Swansea University, the University of Szeged, Hungary and the software company Exodus.
