Geraint Owen has enjoyed a long and rewarding career at Swansea University, spanning almost 30 years, with some personal and professional highlights standing out.

Geraint’s Memory

I started working at Swansea University in March 1991, when I was employed as a Security Porter in Fulton House.

I worked as a Security Porter for over 20 years, where I was responsible for organising and designing layouts for special functions. This enabled me to work with colleagues from across the University, as well as meeting some high profile visitors throughout the years.

I was promoted to the role of Senior Porter, and for the last nine years, I have been a supervisor within the Security Department.

For the last 15 years I have been part of the First Responder Team, and have more recently volunteered to train and fitness test trainee Paramedic Students and the army for Ambulance Service during the coronavirus pandemic.

Aside from the career highlights I have enjoyed at Swansea University, I have had the pleasure of seeing my granddaughter graduate twice from the University.

I am now in my final year working for the University, but will continue to volunteer as a Trainer and Community First Responder with the Ambulance Service in the community.

I have many good memories throughout the years I have spent working at Swansea University.
