Applying through clearing as an international student

What is Clearing?

If you’re an international student and still looking to study in the UK this year, Clearing offers another opportunity to secure your place and start your bright future at Swansea University.

Clearing is a process that allows universities to offer remaining course places to prospective students after the main application cycle - usually from 2 July until the start of term in September. It’s open to students who don’t yet have an offer, didn’t meet their conditions, or are applying later in the cycle.

The two routes to apply

For international students, there are two routes to apply. See which route fits you and then follow our steps to apply.

Route 1 | UCAS

If you're studying A-levels in the UK and have applied through UCAS, you can use Clearing to apply to Swansea, if you are not holding any offers.

Route 2 | Apply directly

If you haven't applied through UCAS, you will apply directly with us.

You don’t need to have your final results to apply. We can consider your application and may be able to make you a conditional offer based on your predicted or pending grades.

How to apply

STEP 1 | Check your eligibility

You can apply through Clearing if you have your results and meet our English language requirements, and one of the following applies:

You didn’t meet the conditions of your offers and want to explore other options
You didn’t apply through UCAS by 30 June but would still like to apply
You’re thinking about changing university

STEP 2 | Search for a course

Search for available courses and check entry requirements, including your qualifications and English language level. Courses available during clearing will be available to search from 2 July.

STEP 3 | Get in touch

Get in touch with the university’s Clearing team to discuss your options and confirm availability.

STEP 4 | Apply

Apply either through UCAS or directly to the university. Make sure you have your academic results and supporting documents ready.

STEP 5 | Receive and accept your offer

If you’re successful, you may receive an offer quickly - sometimes within a few days. Follow the instructions in the email you'll receive to accept your offer and secure your place.

I do not meet entry requirements, what can I do?

Applying for Foundation and International Year 1 courses

For international students who need additional preparation before starting a Swansea University Bachelor’s degree, The College, Swansea University offers a range of Foundation and International Year 1 programmes.
