Only 1 in 3 UK entrepreneurs are female - a gender gap equivalent to 1.1 million missing businesses.
Swansea University are delighted to have partnered with Anne Boden, founder of Starling Bank, and Swansea University Computer Science and Chemistry graduate, as part of her role as the chair of the UK Government Taskforce on women-led high growth enterprises.
The taskforce aims to raise the aspirations of the next generation of female entrepreneurs, highlighting diversity and inclusion within high-growth entrepreneurship, showing that it is open to all, regardless of gender.
To further the taskforce’s aims, Anne and Starling Bank have partnered with Swansea University to produce a suite of case studies. Each tells the story of a trailblazing woman, offering an insight into their unique journey and providing a learning experience for students and the wider community.
We have caught up with several hugely successful female entrepreneurs including Hayley Parsons, founder of Go Compare; Kate Hofman, founder of GrowUp Farms; Romi Savova of PensionBee; and of course, Anne Boden herself, to discuss their entrepreneurial journeys, find out why they think they have been successful, and how they would change the status quo to increase the number of female-led high-growth SMEs in the UK.
