Alumni Volunteering

The Professional Mentoring Programme pairs alumni with current students and recent graduates to get tailored, 1-2-1 support and advice, helping to develop their employability and boost their CV, giving them a head start over the competition.

The six-month programme runs from February – July each year, with a time commitment of one hour per month. As a mentor you will:

• Share your career knowledge and experience.
• Help build their CV or strengthen an employment application.
• Be part of the University community inspiring the next generation.
• Learn what applicants are looking for from your company.

The Flash Mentoring Scheme is a 3 month programme, running from June-September each year, focusing on building stand out CVs and applications.

As a mentor, you will offer one-to-one help to a student on a one-off basis. The student may ask for CV advice, how to network, what qualifications they may need for a particular career path, or if there are any bodies or industries they could join to help them achieve their goals. It is your decision on how these sessions are conducted. You can offer written advice by email or a conversation on Zoom or Skype.

Interested in sustainability?

Get involved with Swansea University’s Sustainability Team on their monthly Beach Cleans. Litter washes ashore on every tide and unless we collect it, it will be there forever. Beach cleans are a great way to enjoy this special place, enjoy some time in the fresh air while leaving it in a better state than when you arrived.
