Professor Phil Reed
Phil has a D.Phil. in Psychology, and is Chair in Psychology at Swansea University. Phil's interests include: Learning and Behaviour, and Psychology and Medicine. Phil has written several books, over 250 papers, and appears regularly in the media. Phil is on the NICE Women’s Pelvic Health Guideline Committee, is Editor-in-Chief of Learning and Motivation, and has held appointments for the Departments for Health and Education.
Dr Lisa A. Osborne
Lisa has a Ph.D. in Psychology, and is a Psychologist in Women’s and Child Health at ABMU, as well as being a member of the National Counselling Society and the National Hypnotherapy Society. Lisa’s interests are in mental health and chronic illness, and she has worked in women’s health, autism, and multiple sclerosis. Lisa has published over 70 papers on such topics.
Professor Simon Emery
Professor Simon Emery leads the Female Pelvic Floor Unit in Swansea, UK. His research interests encompass all aspects of urinary incontinence and prolapse management. He developed the “short free autologous fascial sling” to treat Stress Urinary incontinence, pioneered the use of Botox in the bladder and directs the subspecialist training programme in pelvic floor reconstructive surgery for Wales.
Mair Harvard Thomas
Mair Harvard Thomas – Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Team Lead. Mair leads the Pelvic Health Physiotherapy service. With her many years’ experience, Mair has developed highly specialised assessment, diagnosis, and treatment skills with patients in the field of Women’s Health. Her passion has led her to develop the service to what it is today. Mair has worked hard to build links with Swansea University, and has collaborated on research projects, which have furthered our understanding within Women’s Health.
Dr. Monika Vij
Dr. Monika Vij is a Consultant Gynaecologist, and sub-specialist Urogynaecologist, at Singleton Hospital, Swansea. She received her qualification, and obtained a Master’s degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, in India, before moving to the UK, where she underwent structured postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Monika has completed extensive training in general Gynaecology, as well as in her advanced (sub-specialisation) in Urogynaecology for managing complex pelvic floor dysfunctions. Monika did a clinical research fellowship at King’s College, London, and also obtained an M.D. in Central Sensitisation and the role of Central Sensitivity Syndrome in pelvic organ prolapse from Plymouth University. Monika has published many scientific papers, written book chapters, and presented her research at both national and international conferences.
