Athena Swan Charter - Gender Equality at Swansea University
We have been proud members of the Athena Swan Charter since 2008. This has helped us identify areas for positive action, as well as recognise and share good practices across the University.
We were first awarded Bronze status in 2009, which was renewed in 2013. In 2017 we were successful with our Swansea University Athena SWAN Silver Application resulting in our Silver institutional award, which we still hold.
We are fully committed to gender equality and we continue to encourage and support departments to apply for individual awards, in addition to maintaining focus on our institutional award principles.
What is Athena Swan?
The Athena Swan Charter is run by Advance HE. It recognises the advancement of gender equality through representation, progression and success for all. The Charter is based on key principles, and through our commitment to it, we embed these principles within our policies, practices, action plans and culture.
