Dr Toby Wells
Chair of Imaging, CIF, ILS2 - Consultant Radiologist
Dr Wells studied medicine at Imperial College London and completed further training in General Medicine before becoming a specialist in radiology. He has been a consultant since 2012.
Dr Wells is active in research, teaching and represents Welsh Radiologists on the Faculty Board or the Royal College of Radiologists.
Dr Wells area of expertise includes; Upper & lower Gastrointestinal Imaging, Oncology and General Radiology.
Dr Aamer Iqbal
Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologist
Dr Iqbal studied Medicine at the University of Bristol, graduating in 2010 and completed his radiology training on the Wales Radiology Training Scheme. He completed a Musculoskeletal Imaging fellowship at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham in 2018.
Dr Iqbal has been a Consultant Radiologist at Swansea Bay University Health Board since 2019 and is specialized in all forms of musculoskeletal radiology with a keen interest in sports injuries and intervention.
Dr Alex Powles
Consultant Radiologist
Dr Powles graduated from Oxford University with first class degrees in Medical Sciences and BM BCh Medical Degree and completed his radiology training on the Wales Radiology Training Scheme.
Dr Powles specialized field is uro-radiology including multi-parametric MRI of the Prostate. He is the joint radiology lead for Swansea Bay Urology Multi-Disciplinary Team.
Dr Shaheena Sadiq
Consultant Neuroradiologist
Dr Sadiq qualified from the Imperial College Medical School, London in 1993. She completed a Fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons in 1995, followed by a Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in 2005. Dr Sadiq was appointed a Consultant Radiologist at Swansea Bay University Healthboard in 2005 specialising in Neurology, Head and Neck imaging. Dr Sadiq is a member of the British & European Societies of Neuroradiology.
Dr Sadiq’s Neuroradiology interest includes CT & MRI of the brain and spine with focus on patients with headache, dizziness, hearing loss, brain tumours, stroke, MS and Dementia.
Dr Huw Edwards
Consultant Radiologist
Dr Edwards graduated from the University of London, worked at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London. He went on to complete his radiology training in South Wales. He currently specializes in General, Musculoskeletal and sports imaging.
Dr Edwards is a full time consultant at Swansea Bay University Health board and holds an interest in research and the training of radiology registrars.
Dr Liam McKnight
Consultant Radiologist
Liam McKnight is a Consultant Radiologist in Swansea. After qualifying from the Welsh National School of Medicine in 1978 and training in radiology in the Welsh training scheme, he was appointed as a Consultant in 1986. He was an examiner for the FRCR from 2000-2006 and was Chair of the FRCR exam board from 2006-2011.
He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Swansea University with an interest in the teaching of anatomy as well as radiology.
Dr McKnight specialises in gynaelogical imaging.
Dr Daniel R Obaid
Consultant Cardiologist
Dr Daniel R Obaid qualified in medicine from the University of Cambridge in 2001 and completed specialist training in cardiology at the Wales Deanery. He was a British Heart Foundation Clinical Training Research Fellow at the Royal Papworth Hospital and the University of Cambridge (2009-2012) where he completed a PhD using invasive and non-invasive imaging to identify vulnerable atherosclerotic plaque, work that led to the award of the Young Investigator Prize at the Society of Cardiovascular CT, USA.
Dr Obaid is a clinical academic working as an honorary consultant interventional cardiologist at the Morriston Regional Cardiac Centre and a clinical associate professor based at the Clinical Imaging Facility in the ILS 2.
Dr Obaid’s areas of expertise include: Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Computed Tomography,
Intravascular Imaging, Atherosclerotic Plaque Imaging and Human Factors and Patient Safety.
Dr Suresh K Dalavaye
Consultant Radiologist
Dr Dalavaye qualified in 1996 Consultant Radiologist in Swansea Bay University Health board since 2008. He undertook his medical and post-graduation in General Surgery training at Chennai (Madras), India. He then completed Radiology training in Liverpool. On completion of training, he did a Musculoskeletal Radiology Fellowship at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital at Oswestry.
