The Care Leaver Bursary is available to all eligible ‘home’ students, studying full time and part time on an undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme. We offer a Care Leaver bursary in each year of study to undergraduate students of £2,000 which is split into two payments throughout each academic year. Part-time students will receive a pro-rata payment of £1,000 in each year of study of their undergraduate course.

Postgraduate, PhD students and students completing a second degree (including GEM and PGCE) are eligible to receive a postgraduate Care Leaver bursary, totalling £1,000 for the duration of your course.

The Estranged Student Bursary is available to all eligible ‘home’ students, studying full time and part time on taught undergraduate degree programme. We offer an Estranged Student Bursary of £1,000 in each year of study to undergraduate students, which is split into 2 payments each academic year. Part-time students will receive a pro-rata payment of £500 in each year of study of their undergraduate course.

Postgraduate, PhD students and students completing a second degree (including GEM and PGCE) are not eligible to receive the bursary, but may be granted priority access to Money@CampusLife Hardship Funds.

We offer a bursary for Student Carers in each year of study to undergraduate students of £600 which is split into two payments throughout the academic year. Part-time students will receive a pro-rata payment of £300 in each year of study of their undergraduate course.

Postgraduate, PhD students and students completing a second degree (including GEM and PGCE) are eligible to receive a postgraduate Student Carers bursary per course of £600 for full-time students and £300 per course for part-time students.

Money@CampusLife are pleased announce that we are now offering a non-repayable award to provide financial support to students who are pregnant. 

The Maternity Support Payment is a one off payment of £600. Applications will need to be made 10 weeks before your due date and will require a MATB1 form as evidence to support your application. 

Please note that the Maternity Support Payment is only available to Home students.

Money@CampusLife are pleased announce that we will be offering a non-repayable award to eligible students. This is intended as a supplement to the childcare support provided by the students funding provider.

Awards available for up to £1000 for full time students and £500 for part time students.  Eligibility criteria applies

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the Childcare Support Payment, you must:

• Be a current enrolled student
• Be in receipt of the Childcare Grant element from Student Loans Company / NHS Bursary 

Evidence Required

• Your award notification from Student Loans Company /NHS Bursary evidencing your Childcare Grant award amount
• Receipts of payment or invoices from your childcare provider dated within the last month

Applications will not be processed unless all evidence is uploaded onto the online form.

Are you a Postgraduate Home student needing assistance with course costs?

If so you may be eligible for a one off payment of £300 to contribute towards course costs.

Please select the Swansea University Opportunity Award to apply. Please note that you will only need to provide one months bank statements for all accounts held.

Please add to the testimony section of the application that you are applying for Postgraduate support.

A one off award of £300 to assist with unexpected costs associated with a bereavement.

Students can apply by submitting an application to the Swansea University Opportunity Award (home fee status) or the International Student Support Fund (overseas fee status).

Please specify within the ‘Testimony’ section of your application form that you are recently bereaved, having experienced the death of a close family member (for example a parent/ guardian, sibling, partner, child, spouse) or close friend since the beginning of your current academic year (for example 01/09/23 for students who’s courses started in September 2023), which has had an unforeseen impact on you and your finances.

Eligible students must be ‘enrolled’ or ‘suspended’ and within 5 weeks of the end date of their course (as recorded on their intranet record).

The payment is intended for unexpected costs, for example travel, living expenses and bills, and cannot cover the cost of services already offered by the university (for instance counselling) or private therapy.

Your application will be assessed as a priority and within our standard assessment timeframes.

We require 1 month’s up to date bank statement from you if applying for the bereavement support payment only.
