Swansea University is to welcome Professor Judith Lamie to its senior leadership team as a new Pro-Vice Chancellor with responsibility for the university’s international portfolio.
Professor Lamie will take up her new role on 1st August and will bring with her a wealth of experience within Higher Education, having previously held various strategic and internationally-focussed senior roles.
Professor Lamie is set to work collaboratively across Swansea University’s Faculties and Professional Services, in supporting its ambitious international aims by working to broaden global partnerships, develop a successful transnational education portfolio, increase international student recruitment and continue to enhance the university’s reputation as a world-leading institution.
Professor Lamie said; “I am delighted to join Swansea University’s vibrant community and very much look forward to engaging with students and colleagues across many areas of activity. I hope our work will further enhance the university’s international reputation by strengthening longstanding and successful partnerships, pioneering new relationships and helping to transform the lives of students from all over the globe in welcoming them to Swansea.”
Professor Lamie’s former roles include Director of International Strategy and Relations at the University of Birmingham, International Director at the University of Leeds, Director of External Relations at Regent’s University London, Deputy VC (International) at Middlesex University, PVC (External Affairs) at the University of Derby and Chair of the Board of Directors at NAVITAS UK. She is currently working as an HE consultant.
Vice-Chancellor of Swansea University, Professor Paul Boyle said: “The appointment of Professor Lamie is critical for the university, given the importance of internationalisation to our future strategic success and ongoing financial sustainability and I look forward to welcoming her to our wonderful Swansea University community.”
